Drug Addiction Help Options

Different treatment programs are offered in drug rehabilitation facilities that would cater to the needs of each participant. Depending on the degree of addiction, the age and other circumstances of the participant, there is a rehab program that would work best with him. Here are some of the treatment programs to choose from when a person asks for help from a rehab center.

1. Residential care

The person may stay in the rehab facility for several months as he participates in the counseling sessions and detox. The patient is also provided medications if he experiences withdrawal symptoms due to his abstinence to drugs. Residential care may be covered by insurance. Be sure to inquire about this with the rehab center and your insurance company.

2. Inpatient hospital care

This program is quite similar to residential care except for the rigorous hospital standards used for inpatient care. The detox process is also being focused on and medical problems are also better addressed.

3. Long term care

This is the follow up treatments done for patients who had been enrolled in the inpatient or residential programs. This would help the patient in continuous recovery and will minimize the possibility for relapse.

4. Outpatient programs

This is advisable for patients who cannot leave their normal life, who are highly motivated, can maintain abstinence at least for several days and those who has strong social support. There are at least three meetings per week for this program with about three hours per meeting.

5. Day Treatments

Day treatment programs are done similarly to the outpatient programs except that meetings are done five days a week for about four hours a day.
